Why the Name “Yelling Ant”?

The “Yelling” part of our name is all about speaking up – having the courage and the confidence to say what’s on your mind. If you want to live your best life, you’ve got to speak up, right?

As they say, if you’ve got something to say, “Say it with your chest!” Too often, we hold back our thoughts or our voices, especially in spaces where we feel we don’t belong.

But here at Yelling Ant, we want to encourage everyone to speak up, to share, to contribute. This is a space where your voice matters.

Now, let’s talk about the “Ant” part of the name. Why ants? Well, ants are small but mighty. Think about it – ants are everywhere, and they work together to do incredible things. They’re organized, they’re determined, and when they come together, they’re an unstoppable force.

That’s exactly what we’re building here – a community where individuals can come together to support one another, share their stories, and create something powerful. It doesn’t matter how small we may feel on our own – when we work together, we’re capable of amazing things.

But why do we need a community like this? Why Yelling Ant?

Here’s the thing – in today’s world, people are more connected than ever through social media, yet there’s still so much loneliness and isolation, especially for people of color.

I’m sure many of you can relate to this feeling. Maybe you’ve been in spaces – at work, at school, or even online – where you’ve felt like you didn’t quite fit in. You know what I mean – those moments where it feels like no one else really understands your experiences or where you’re coming from.

That’s where Yelling Ant comes in.

Here’s a saying that I love: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

That’s the philosophy behind Yelling Ant. We’re here to create a space where we can come together, go far together, and build something meaningful.

Now, don’t get me wrong – there are other platforms out there, and social media is everywhere.

But what makes Yelling Ant different is that we’re focused on building a community where people of color and all others can share their experiences, celebrate their cultures, and have real conversations about the issues that matter most to us. We want this to be a space where everyone who joins feels like they truly belong, no matter where they’re from or what their background is.

The Need for Spaces Like Yelling Ant

Let’s be real – there aren’t enough spaces where we can be our true, authentic selves.

Whether it’s in the workplace, in social settings, or even on social media, too many of us have had experiences where we feel like we have to filter ourselves or where we don’t feel like we truly belong.

How many times have you found yourself in a room, or in an online space, where you’re the only one who looks like you or has your experiences?

That feeling can be tough – it’s like living life in a fishbowl, always being watched, judged, or misunderstood.

For people of color, these experiences are all too common. And that’s why Yelling Ant exists. We need spaces where we can let down our guard, be ourselves, and connect with others who understand where we’re coming from. Whether it’s conversations about culture, race, identity, sports, or just the day-to-day stuff, we need places where our voices are heard and valued.

I’ve experienced this firsthand, and I know many of you have, as well. That feeling of being “the only one” – whether it’s in your office, your school, or your social circle – can be isolating. You carry the weight of representation, the burden of constantly having to explain yourself or defend your experiences. It’s exhausting. And that’s where Yelling Ant comes in. We’re building a community where you don’t have to explain yourself because the people here get it. They understand, and they’re here to lift you up.
