Customers that find that they are not an exact match for one of Beauty Of The Nile’s® seven Color Correcting (“CC”) Creams often select the two shades that are closest to their skin tone and then blend the shades to match their own very unique skin tone.

Many of our customers vary their shade selection or blending in the summer when their skin is darker - due to sun exposure - and in the winter when their skin is lighter (when there is less sun).

30. Can I blend your CC creams to match my skin tone?
Yes! No two skin tones are exactly the same. Customers that find that they are between two skin tones tell us that they buy the two shades that are closest to their skin tone.

They then blend the shades to match their unique skin tone.

Yes! First let the product(s) absorb before applying both.

47. How long should I wait between application of skin care products?
Generally, we advise that you let the product(s) absorb before applying the next product. That said, most products can be layered seamlessly without waiting.
• After cleansing right after skin is washed the pores are open and products are absorbed more deeply.
• When using a product with retinol, we suggest you wait until your skin is dry, approximately 5-10 minutes, to prevent excess irritation and skin dryness/flaking that can occur when product is applied on damp skin.

48. What to do when breaking out from a product?
We all have different pore sizes, different pigmentation, different sensitivity to products, and different responses to certain ingredients. Therefore, no two people will respond to the same skincare routine.

When starting a new product, it is recommended to patch test products on a small area such as the side of the neck or inner arm. Using any potent actives, you may run a small risk of irritation. It’s best to test new products to determine that the new product is right for you. When suffering a breakout from a product, it's best to stop using the product and stick to gentle products such as moisturizers and sunscreens. Once your skin resolves to normal, you can patch test the product again to see if it works for you. To build up tolerance to a product, you can apply it and wash it off after several minutes. Continue this until your skin can tolerate the product without washing it off.

49. What to do when breaking out from Retinol?
The retinol purging stage is temporary. Always remember that less retinol is more. Overusing retinoids can strip your skin which can cause flakiness and irritation. The most important thing is to reinforce the skin barrier with a hydrating moisturizer.

50. Why should I use Vitamin C?
Vitamin C can be used on most skin types. Using Vitamin C every morning helps prevent damage from both UV and pollution associated with free radicals. Vitamin C can help brighten your skin and improve uneven skin tone. Applying an antioxidant such as Vitamin C to the skin can also reduce collagen breakdown and reveal a more youthful complexion.

51. How to prevent irritation from Vitamin C?
It is recommended to use Vitamin C two to three times a week at first. Start slowly to reveal a beautiful glow.

No two people will respond to exactly the same regimen or skincare ingredients. When adding any new product into your routine it is recommended that you start slowly, by doing a patch test on a small area such as the side of the neck or inner arm. Testing a product will ensure if this product is right for you.

If you experience any irritation from a Vitamin C product, we advise you to take a break from the product and use some of our nurturing products as a buffer. Your skin sometimes takes time to adjust to new pH level shifts.

52. Vitamin C serum changing colors?
Vitamin C oxidation is completely normal. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Vitamin C is still effective after turning yellow.
  • Pure Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) is a highly effective antioxidant. Due to its delicate makeup, L-Ascorbic Acid is vulnerable to oxidation when exposed to heat, light, and air, making some level of discoloration inevitable over time.
  • Fortunately, Vitamin C retains most of its potency through the first several phases of oxidation, which means it’s still both efficacious and perfectly safe to use. A champagne or straw-colored Vitamin C serum is completely normal and still provides your skin with a potent dose of antioxidants.
Here are helpful tips to slow Vitamin C oxidation and ensure that it lasts longer:

i. Always tightly close the lid.
Oxidation is primarily caused by oxygen. When using a Vitamin C serum, try to limit the amount of oxygen that gets into the bottle. Tightly close the lid immediately after applying.

ii. Store it in the fridge.
Keeping Vitamin C in a cool, dark place is essential because it’s very temperature-sensitive. Bonus: Storing serums in the refrigerator helps give a cool, refreshing effect when applied.

iii. Avoid light exposure.
Light exposure can cause rapid oxidation, so always store your serum in a dark place. If your fridge is too inconvenient, always opt for a dark cabinet or bathroom drawer.

Beauty Of The Nile’s® CC Creams were inspired by some of history’s greatest female icons. Each name represents a different skin shade. Their names became our rallying cry as we developed the best products for our great customers. Our CC Cream names and their meanings to us are:

Dahomey [dəˈhōmē] - The Dahomey Amazons were an all-female military regiment of the Kingdom of Dahomey (in today's Benin, West Africa) that existed from the 17th century until the late 19th century. They are one of the few documented female armies in modern history. They were named “Amazons” and known to be fierce warriors.

Dihya [deh-hai-ah] - Dihya, was a Berber queen of the Aurès (a region located in the mountainous area of the Aurès range in eastern Algeria) and a religious and military leader who led indigenous resistance to the Muslim conquest of the Maghreb, the region then known as Numidia. She became the uncontested ruler of the whole Maghreb.

Sheba [ˈSHēbə] - the Queen of Sheba was the queen of Egypt and Ethiopia, and brought to Israel the first specimens of the balsam, which grew in the Holy Land.

Nefertiti [ˌnefərˈtēdē] - Neferneferuaten Nefertiti was a queen of the 18th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt. Nefertiti and her husband were known for their radical overhaul of state religious policy, in which they promoted the earliest known form of monotheism - the belief that there is only one deity, an all-supreme being that is referred to as "God." Moremi [Mọremí ] -  a legendary Yoruba queen and folk heroine in the Yorubaland region of present-day southwestern Nigeria who assisted in the liberation of the Yoruba kingdom from the neighboring Ugbo Kingdom. Queen Moremi was a courageous and beautiful woman who, after unceasing raids by a neighboring tribe, took the heroic step of offering herself to be captured by the raiders. Majaji [Majājī] -  Queen Modjadji (Majaji) was the hereditary female ruler and queen of Balobedu, South Africa. Cleopatra [klee·uh·pa·truh] - Cleopatra took over the throne of Egypt at the early age of 18. Under her rule, Egypt was the richest nation in the Mediterranean and the last to remain independent from the rapidly expanding Roman Empire. Cleopatra was also the first foreign queen to have her image appear on Roman currency. Cleopatra could speak multiple languages by adulthood and was the first Ptolemaic ruler to learn the Egyptian language. A Beauty Of The Nile® subscription allows customers to go through checkout "one time" and receive automatic orders at their selected delivery frequency. Depending on usage, customers can choose reoccurring orders to be delivered every 30, 60, or 90 days.

Delayed or lost orders - Beauty Of The NileDELAYED OR LOST ORDERS: A shipment is considered lost after it has been with a courier system for a period of 15 business days for US orders and 21 business days for international orders. We cannot take responsibility for delays caused by the courier. Although orders normally take much less than that we are unable to dispatch a replacement until this period of time has elapsed.

Wrong Address Icon - Beauty Of The NileWRONG OR INCOMPLETE ADDRESS: If your package is returned to us due to an incorrect or incomplete address, you must pay all delivery costs to re-deliver your order to a corrected address. We are not responsible for the loss of your order if the address provided at checkout is incomplete or incorrect.

Carrier Company Icon - Beauty Of The NileRESPONSIBILITY FOR CARRIER DELIVERY: Due to the increase of online orders and the smaller workforce of shipping companies, we are not responsible for what happens to shipments once they leave our facility. We provide orders to a 3rd-party logistical carrier (most often UPS, USPS or DHL). Those shipments then become the responsibility of the carrier and the customer. These carriers are separate businesses from Beauty Of The Nile®. We cannot coordinate each delivery, and you rely on these carriers to get your order to you. As such, we're not able to control mistakes or errors of these 3rd-party carriers.

Order Shipping Insurance - Beauty Of The NileSHIPPING INSURANCE FOR ORDERS: Unfortunately, packages carried by 3rd-party carriers are sometimes lost, stolen, or damaged in transit, leaving customers unhappy. For peace of mind, we suggest you protect your package with shipping insurance, which we offer at checkout. This will help to cover any lost, damaged, or stolen packages. If any of those things occur, the insurance will be able to either refund you or credit you in whole or part, or place a new order on your behalf. If shipping insurance is opted out of, we, unfortunately, can't do anything to further assist you.

Returns

Returns are eligible on select products that have been purchased within the past 45-days. Products eligible for return must be unworn, unused, undamaged and unopened (still in their original packaging). Refunds will be issued in the same form as the original payment received and it will take 5-10 working days to reflect on your bank statement.

All items will be subject to inspection once received to ensure they adhere to our policy. Additional shipping fees may apply for items that do not adhere to our policy.

Products purchased during a promotional period* are final sale and not eligible for return. Products purchased as part of a Bundle cannot be partially returned.

Do you offer free shipping on returns?

At this time, we are unable to offer free shipping on returns or provide shipping labels.

Additional Instructions

In your message to us regarding your request for a return or exchange, include your order number and reason for return and our team will get back to you to start the process. We will then provide you with a Return Merchandise Authorization number (RMA). We cannot ensure that we will be able to properly handle your return without the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. Returns must be postmarked within 2 weeks of receiving an RMA number, otherwise refund will be forfeited.

Returns without a RMA will incur a fee of 20% of the order total.

For approved Returns, we will refund to your original payment method for the full amount of your original payment, less shipping and any excess usage fee determined. If you received a free gift with your purchase, the gift must be included in the return, otherwise the cost of the free item will be deducted from the refund.

  • If subsequent orders of the same product(s) are made after the original purchase of the product(s), they are not eligible for a refund. Orders with three (3) or more of the same product are not eligible for a refund.
  • If there are three (3) or more orders placed within a thirty (30) day window, any order within that timeframe is not eligible for a refund.
  • We reserve the sole right to define and limit, refuse, and/or reject returns from customers at any time due to irregular or excessive returns and potential fraudulent or criminal activity.

We recommend returning your item with a carrier that includes tracking. You may also wish to purchase shipping insurance. We cannot guarantee that we’ll receive your returned item.

If your purchase was made on a credit or debit card of yours that is no longer active, we will only be able to issue store credit.

74. Where do I enter the Promotion Code / Discount Code?

After you have selected the products you wish to order, and after you have clicked the CHECK OUT button, you will arrive at a page (that looks like the screenshot below) with the Discount Code space where you should enter your Promotion Code/Discount Code. Enter the Discount Code in the space first, and then click the Pay Now button. The valid discount will be automatically applied to your order once you complete these steps. See image below.
