Why did you become a dermatologist?

I wanted knowledge that few other doctors had in order to be able to add more value.

What do you love about being a dermatologist?

I love the independence and the variety of condition types and patients I can take care of.  We get to use our brains and our hands.  We can treat life threatening conditions and address cosmetic issues.

What key advice would you give people-of-color about taking care of their skin?

  • Wear sunscreen daily.
  • Moisturize daily.
  • Don't wear hairstyles that hurt.

Which skin issues do you see most often among your patients who have skin-of-color?

I see hair and scalp conditions, eczema, acne and hyperpigmentation.

What is the best question a patient can ask their dermatologist?

Would you do a skin check and make recommendations on how I can best care for my skin and hair?
